First of all, let me say I am a 31 year old adult man. More people take these meds than you would think. I was really surprised to learn the numbers. Millions. I think that this medication can help but I have noticed that people who take these meds (that I know of) have inconsistent behavior. One day they are fine and the next day they might come off as distant or even a bit eccentric. In my view, I think this has changed how people interact with one another in the modern world. That is just my opinion. What is your opinion? Note: I have nothing against folks taking these meds or going to therapy. I am not criticizing medicine. What effect does the widespread usage of psych and anti-depressant meds have on modern society?
i tend to stay away from delving into society's blatant 'dumbing' of its populous. instead i prefer to visit sites about photography. it helps to see strange angles on perspectives i just cannot comprehend.
if more people saw new angles on the world around them, i'm sure they'd put their problems into perspective -- instead of in a pill bottle. What effect does the widespread usage of psych and anti-depressant meds have on modern society?
In response to Shatsy, people don't take these pills to rid themselves of all problems. They help balance out a chem imbalance, which helps to put you in a state of mind where you actually CAN start looking at the world differently. I really think that people who have not been in that state just can't imagine what it feels like. You can't force yourself to think differently. It's as serious as a diabetic needing insulin. They can't just positively THINK themselves out of it.
