Do you think it's a good idea to have a Facebook?

With more and more people joining facebook, do you think that it's a good idea to have one. One it's a great way for communication but on the other hand a lot of people don't moniter what they put on it and it could reach a future employer. Ialso show how well people interact with others and it's a really good networking tool. Let me know what your take on it is.Do you think it's a good idea to have a Facebook?
As long as you don't put up adresses, phone #'s, or personal information, and lock your profile so that only people who you approve can see it, you should be fine! It's a great way to keep in touch with friends and make new aquantances!

I have one, and I love it! I've taken extra precautions like locking my profile, and I've had no problems for three years!

And when we had an officer come to our school, he said that as long as you took the aforemetioned precautions, that facebook was a great social utility network and much safer than MySpace! just use your common sense and personal judgement when uploading photos (make sure it wouldn't compromise you in a job or get you in trouble), adding friends (don't friend who you don't know!), and posting information! You don't have to give out any personal information to facebook...just your name (aliases are perfectly suitable if you're nervous about using your real name) and your e-mail adress!

Have fun, and good luck!Do you think it's a good idea to have a Facebook?
i would advise you to carefully reconsider joining Facebook.

if you do decide to join,

1. don't put up personal information

2.if you want to put up a picture of yourself, make sure it isn't a clear one.

3. never post up your email address

4. don't give anyone your email, unless you know them before.

the rest is up to you. Facebook can be a wonderful experience, but i just met the wrong people. so you have to bo very careful. have fun with it.
Well I have a Facebook account %26amp; so does my partner, we never put anything on there that could be misinterpreted or seen in a bad light by anybody, not just future employers as we are a little more mature than that. These sites are great for people who don't get out much-we have many friends who are reliant on social interaction from sites like these, and they are just fun anyway. The people who post things that can affect their future are usually a certain type-they will post things on whatever site they are using and their behaviour will always come back to haunt them no matter what anyway.
You should make one :)

It really helps me communicate with people that I dont see often and that I dont see anymore since school is out. I must admit, that it gets addicting, but you shouldnt add anyone you dont know. I put my phone number on mine, but its set on private, so only my friends can see it. I dont see what could be bad, unless you let your pictures and/or contact info get into the wrong hands. If you dont want people to see your conversations, then simply send messages instead om comments. I hope you join facebook and add that person who wants 1000 friends :)
if you want facebook for just networking and friends then your fine and its good for privacy too as u can control wat certain ppl can see on ya profile from status's to ya wall, and even ya friends list, if u dnt want people seeing ya work info, contact details etc. etc. your able to customise who can see this, its no good for people who put explicit pictures up as i know a guy who put a pic of his ex up LOL and his account was disabled within an hour Lol its much easier and simpler than other social networks ive used as its simple, straight forward and isn't crammed with advertisments, i also find it faster to use as you ont have to go froem page to page to add people, join groups etc as a small window comes up to confirm this :) hope this helps
Its not such a bad thing, but people really abuse it and get addicted to it. Trying to have hundreds of friends and uploading pictures of them drunk.

Just be responsible and it wont come back to bite you in the butt.
