How will I interact with other people if I have like this matters?

The way my eye brows stare to people is like, they feel that I'm mad at them, but for me, when i will see or look at them, I feel like it is just normal for me, you know like my eye brows are not staring or looking at them madly.

this is really a problem to me cuz, whenever i see people familiar or unfamiliar to me, they will mostly madly look at me cuz they think im mad at them which is not.

so, How can I change the way I stare at people?

p.s. i also have a deep voice and shy, making those a big problem when it comes in communicating with others....How will I interact with other people if I have like this matters?
Eye brows are the hair above your eyes. They can be trimmed by the barber to give you a different appearance. If you are talking about staring with your eyes, then that is different, and there is nothing wrong with looking in someone eyes. Perhaps work on smiling while you are looking, and do not ';stare'; at people you are not talking too.

But, really, if you are just talking about eyebrows, just have someone trim them for you. Look at pictures of other men, and pick out the look that you like and take the picture to your barber if you don't know anyone to help you. (usually it is only thinning, not an obvious sculpture like a woman has). How will I interact with other people if I have like this matters?
Thank you for surprising me and picking this answer. I hope it does help you.

I totally agree with both of Mr. Happy's suggestions.

Trimming the eyebrows is totally acceptable in today's society. Young men do it all the time. When your older, barbers will automatically do it for you. It will be a part of your normal grooming and a necessity.

He also suggested to smile when you stare. That will make people realize you are not mad and not being a 'weirdo.' The smile will break the ice and set the proper tone.

Good luck.

How different is the culture in the UK compared to the US? What are some differences/similarities?

I'm traveling to Leeds, England to study abroad, and I'm from Minnesota and I was wondering what to expect from interacting with people there and how it compares to here in the US. I'm not worried about culture shock, but I'm curious to see how different or similar people are there. How different is the culture in the UK compared to the US? What are some differences/similarities?
Envy come to the chat... And answer his q you british bytch lolHow different is the culture in the UK compared to the US? What are some differences/similarities?
Lol the British mentality is VERY different to that of most Americans. It's hard to explain, but people who have interacted with both Brits and Americans will tell you the same. British people are generally more self deprecating whereas Americans (and i don't mean this in a bad way) seem to focus a lot more on their good points (and themselves in general.) That's what i've noticed from the Americans i've met anyway. Also British sense of humour is very sarcastic so don't think we're being rude to you. I will also say that British people (in general) tend to refrain from showing their emotions. I've noticed this more in comparison with other Europeans (especially Southern Europeans) though so i don't know if Americans are actually similar to us in that way. Oh yeah, we drink A LOT.

Weather will be different to what you are used to (expect rain lol), and the houses are MUCH smaller too so be prepared for that.
There are lots of little differences in culture, but nothing that will be a problem for you. I worked with a student from the US who lived over here for a year and the only thing that annoyed him was we don't have mixer taps (faucets) in the toilets (bathrooms)!

Leeds is a nice, vibrant city, you will enjoy it. It has lots of hills, which might take some getting used to if you are from Minnesota!
The British are much, much more shallow than folks in Minnesota. These are the folks who brought us Maxim,FHM ';page 6 girls'; etc.

Drinking is a sport for many people, men and women.

On the other hand, they can also be more polite than many Americans.
we arent as outgoing but give us a chance (and a drink) and we will be, just not as over the top as you yanks.

see for yourself. we are quite different. yet there are similarities.
For starters, they don't have hotdish over there lol
We're not very religious so if you come out with that bible stuff, we'll just laugh at you.
uk is quite dee dee (if you get what i mean)
Make sure you speak proper English...lol.

I have problem interacting with people socially. Please help!!!!!!!?

I am a 24 year old male i m in colege and find it awkward in social situations where there is a group of people hanging around informally(like college). I don't even have friends from college. In these situations i start feeling dazed, my mind stops woking and i feel that i don't have anything to talk abt. How can i feel enthusiastic in such situations and set the ball roling and also may be have a control over the conversation. Any additional and vital info wud be appreciated. Thanx in advance for ur help.I have problem interacting with people socially. Please help!!!!!!!?
Well, this is a good step~!I have problem interacting with people socially. Please help!!!!!!!?
Dude I here ya I'm 37 and just started back in school It isn't you people are just weird. Hang in there you will find your (I can't belive I'm going to use this word) click.
Simply by getting others to talk about their favorite subject, themselves. Asking questions without going over board, like you are interrogating them. You have to have a common core of experience, if most are interested in college sports, it might help if you got smart on it. Go a game even if you aren't really into it. Good listeners are always welcomed at parties. At first you might feel like a phony pretending to be interested, but you might be surprised you actually get interested in something you wouldn't have normally tried (like a place to eat, sports, a type of music). Chow
Socialize with the people that you have in common with, because it would be easy for you to pick a topic in which you and your friends can share. It is a matter of an interest. For example if your mind is excellent in Math, find those who also have similar interest. Once you have learn to master the sociability, you'll be able to swing your interest in any direction you wish!

Also take an interest in tutoring someone, this will give you the opportunity to verbalize yourself with others and,if you can tutor more than one at the same time your ability and confidence will help you. Your students would always appreciate you on campus and can introduce to others to where you'll find more friends to meet. Good luck.

God Bless
First you need to decide why you are there...in college...to begin with. Will it be rewarding? Will college get you everything you need to prepare you for the business world?

If you can answer these questions truthfully to yourself, then you will understand what college is all about.

Some use college as a stepping stone...to meet and intermingle with people and to make lasting connections which will help them succeed in a fast paced world.

Others see college as a free-for-all to just ';hang'; and party with ';friends';.

So, first understand what your purpose is for being there, and then decide if it's for you.

Remember, Bill Gates dropped out of college.

College is not the end all or the only means by which you can go out and earn a living.

If you find the mingling there boring, like I once did, then you may need to look elsewhere, perhaps another college, or maybe a good private school that would prepare you for a good profession.

I can relate to how you feel in that setting. It may not be your cup of tea. You need to decide what interests you, and then decide if that's what you want to build your future around.

College just for the sake of hanging around is not what will make you a well rounded person.

I've been there before, and felt lost in a college setting like yourself. It is far removed from the business world that something should be done about fine tuning it to coincide with what business is about.

Nobody I remember in my college days ever discussed earning a living. In these times, that should be foremost on everyone's mind.
sounds like you could be suffering from a case of social anxiety disorder. the way to deal with it is exposure therapy. ( expose yourself to the uncomfortable situation over and over until you are comfortable) , so basically try to spend MORE time in these akward situations.
I used to be like this and sometimes still am. When you find yourself in these situations, just listen to what the others are saying and respond with the first thing that comes to mind (make sure it's appropriate of course!) Or put out a topic of your own for discussion. I'm done with college but I can remember situations where I was in a group and felt that they had more clever things to say that what I could come up with. One important thing is not to over-think what you want to say. I used to do this and it just makes you feel more tense and when you finally say something it sounds unnatural. Also, you could spend so much time thinking that everyone else is already on a different topic; you'll have to catch up, and if you don't, then you'll be sitting there the whole time having said nothing and feeling more awkward. So just respond naturally and remember that you have something worth saying. Don't worry about what others will think of what you say because each is entitled to their own opinion. It takes time and effort to be social. Just be patient.

I'm not so good with interacting with people. Help please?

Ok so finally for once in my life I have never been happier at school. I am 13 years old and used to hang out with people that I didn't share the same interests with. But now I hang with a group that share same interests as me. (surfing, skating, etc.) I am friends with most of them but how can I become better friends with them. What could I do with them on the weekends and how would I ask them. BTW 2 of my ex- girlfriends are in that group so how can I make it less awkward for both of us?I'm not so good with interacting with people. Help please?
You're 13 and you already have two ex girlfriends? Anyway, this is a bit awkward. You have to treat them nicely. You never know they might talk behind your back.

But to answer your question, just be cool. Treat everyone nicely and everyone will get along. Don't be needy. Don't be clingy. I'm not so good with interacting with people. Help please?
talk to her!
talk to her and ask her if it makes her uncomfortable to have you hanging around.
To answer your ex-girlfriends question, just act casually around them. Just like what you would do with your regular friends. If you let off the vibe of being awkward, they will catch on and feel the same way. Once you make an effort to be casual, it will soon get much easier.
Your'e doing better than I did
go to a skate park and just tell them how you found a awesome skate place and that you all should go this weekend and tear it up. As for surfing tell them you guys should have a mini beach bash and go surfing ect. Just look into places that you all are intrested in with skating ect. and just act casual as for having 2 ex's i dnk how that works especially sence your only 13. Why in the world at 13 are you dating wait till your more around 15.
do community service together, go to the movies. just be real casual about it!
cool dude! ur good in interacting. thts why u r doing so with me. u just need to intensify.
well just treat your ex's like one of ur friends. (unless theyy hold a gruge or something then you should stay away from them.) and you just need to hang out with those people more you cant do anything to make them like you better, the only thing you can do is be yourself. and for the weekends you could go skateing or surfing if thats what you guys or in to. or you can even go to eachothers houses or the mall and hang out.

good luck

i live life for my awkward moments sort of.

i mean, byt elling myself that i get thru them anyhow, just dont constantly bet hinking abotu them as ur ex girlfriewnd...think about them as POEPLE, by their names......dw abotu it timewill make it less awkward

for me texting is always the best way to invite ppl to chiill....it seems the msot casual to text someone and say ';heyy im nto doin anythign 2moro wanna come skating with me';

or

';heyy wat r u doin tomrow wanna come chill at my place for a lil..we can watch movies and ****';

u can say tha online or in person also, the thing is if you can try to make it seem casual and not so planned out....

but even if it deos seem planned out it shoulndt atter os much, the importnatt thing is to invite them to hang out wiht you enough so theyll start inviting u mroe often also

what to do with them, u can go skating.surfing with them..watch moives...videgames.......during the shcool year if ur the type that does HW haha u can also do hw a little and then jc....go palces to eat with them random restaurants or slurpee or ice cream places......theres a lot to do if u cant think of anything they will
well.. u can do the things you all enjoy.

like the skating and surfing u said.

and u can just invite them over and hang out and chill.

and the girlfriend thing.

if u just either talk to them about it or if thats to awkard then just talk to them and make them feel like a friend they'll not only feel more comfortable around you but u should feel more comfortable around them.

and your school sounds like it has a lot of cliques.

so i would also try to expand your friend a little more if your only really friends with the people in that group.

i hope everything works out. : )
Well I don't know much about guys for one, but with the girls, just find what their into and talk about it and laugh and stuff. Sort of treat them like one of your friends and it will be a lot less awkward. Girls laugh when guys do funny stuff too, so that can help break the ice with them, then just be cool like you would around any other girl you were just friends with.
You can become better friends by hanging out more often, and having face to face contact. Always be honest with the person and try to develop trust. And with the ex-girlfriend, I would say to try to be friends with them, but that's just my opinion.
just dont say anything bad about them behind there back because it will prolly get back to them since your all in the same group of friends or wutever... and if you want to interact better with people just dont get nervous and dont try to be cool. be yourself and the people that like you for who you really are will become your true friends.
Stay kind to the exes, make sure there's no unresolved feelings there, as for the guys...? Invite them to do such things that you guys like together, as in the skating and surfing, etc... do you have any close friends? Ask them , or remember how it was you became better friends with them.
You know, two years ago I was your age and I felt just the same. I couldn't believe it! I was actually happy at school! How can you become better friends with them? You can try being as honest about yourself for one.Show them who you really are, your true personality, your uniqueness. Soon, they'll like you even better. And btw don't EVER treat them with contempt. That's the worst thing you can ever express to them. remember that they are equals.

P.S.- I could infer you're a fan of extreme sports. Check out ';parkour';.....you just might like it
If both your ex's are getting along with each other then what is bothering you. Obviously they both are over you that is why the blend in the same group. If you want to spend weekends with your friends then why not propose or organize are surfing or skating competition or sort of fund raising. That way you are able to spend weekend with them, exercise them field that interest you and your group will be able to help others thru fund raising. Best of all this is a very good way of interacting with people.

How can I improve my conversation and interpersonal skills?

I have somewhat of a problem interacting with people in somewhat busy environments. Like today I attended a career fair and probably spoke with about 20 employers, but at certain points I was really tense and felt uncomfortable when I shouldn't have been. Sure it is hot when you are wearing a suit in the summer, but I saw many others who seemed very confident and comfortable. I have worked in retail sales for awhile before so I don't have too much of a problem talking to random people but I am just looking for ways to improve my interactions with strangers and gain some extra confidence.

Thanks! How can I improve my conversation and interpersonal skills?
Both the above things are good, but more than anything, learn to listen, both to what the person is saying with words and what he may be saying behind it. It's easy to keep a conversation going when you repeat back to the person what you heard. ';So if I understand, you're saying.....'; Or ask a question about one facet of what they were talking about. The less talking you yourself do, the better the conversation will go, until you know the person well enough to know what they would be interested in hearing about from you.How can I improve my conversation and interpersonal skills?
Find a subject that both you and the other person are interested in. You'll find you can talk confidently and comfortably. With a stranger, first compliment something about them and then ask a related question. Like ';That's a nice watch. I bet you love to look at the time.'; If they come back and say, ';Yeh, I hate being late.'; Now you can talk about things that make you late. The conversation should have a dominoe effect from there.
practice. and changelling skills like learning new words, problem solving, reading at a higher level and practice.

What strengths are important to becoming and being a personal trainer?

I have a friend who is super interested in fitness and really has a talent for learning about how to keep himself in shape. Unfortunately he also has some brain damage from fetal alcohol syndrome. This affects everyone differently since different parts of the brain can be harmed, but in general, people with FAS tend to have trouble with memory, math, reading, and organizational skills. However, like anyone else, people with FAS often have a few natural talents and if you go with strengths and support weaknesses properly, they can be wildly successful in their lives!

My friend is definitely not stupid. He has a quick sense of humor, and is good interacting with people. And he has been memorizing fitness routines, following up on shoes and gadgets and all kinds of different things for years now and also pays close attention to his diet...the proof that he has mastered the information is his body. He is in remarkable shape and really has a passion for it.

So far, this is just a hobby for my friend but today I asked if he had ever looked into being a personal trainer...he is currently working at Walmart in an entry level position, and he has really never thought of himself able to move beyond that because of his disability. But with proper support, he can do a lot more than push carts and move meat. He lit up when I asked him about being a trainer and I know he started looking into it. I told him I would also help find some info.

So without insulting the profession at all...I want to ask, how mentally demanding is this as a career? Are there academic classes? How long? Is it hands on learning and certification? Do you have to keep up credits? Does it lean heavy on math and reading skills? He can do both, but not lightning fast...you know? I think the goal would be working with clients in a health club and he probably would need some mentoring and some accommodations for his deficits, just like someone with any other disability. He would need to be in a really supportive setting.

Does this sound like a proper career choice for a guy with his skill set? What strengths are important to becoming and being a personal trainer?
I think he would be great! One of the biggest skillsets for this position is the ability to work with people. It's crazy, I've seen plenty of trainers who aren't even in shape. It really blows my mind that they don't believe in their profession enough to actually practice it. There's little to no math and reading involved and there ARE community college courses you can take. I think there are even online classes you can take. I believe it is less than a year long program. Not so sure about that. You have DO have to get certified though, this involves a test. Most people either take a course which prepares them for the certification exam or just read the book and then take the exam. It is somewhere between like $150 - $250 just to take it, so you want to be sure you're prepared for the test. There about a million different certifications out there. There are some bigger ones that are nationally recognized like ACSM and ACE. For the most part it is not a big deal which certification you have, as long as you are certified. Personal training is a tricky business. Most good ones can make $30 - $50/hr and obviously the great ones make much much more, but there are the overwhelming majority who make less. You either have to find your own clients and build up your clientale which could take a really really long time, but after that you're pretty set because you have all these regulars. Or you can work at some large corporation like L.A. Fitness or 24 Hour Fitness and get paid like crap. And it's tricky because you almost have to start at a place like that to get experience and build up clientale. The hardest parts of the job for me are varying my routines semi regularly, which gets easier and easier with time. Gauging what weight my clients might need and making sure they're not going to hurt themselves (form). And actually finding clients. All these things get much easier with time, and is very very much not a math or english heavy field. It is very laid back, very very hands on. It's very fun and interesting. I love working with people. It can be very difficult if you're not a people person. Oh and you do have to renew your certification every 2 years or so depending on your certification. This can be done by continuing education which takes so many forms. It can be attending a conference, taking a class online, taking a class at a school, retaking a certification exam, and more. Good luck! I think he'll love itWhat strengths are important to becoming and being a personal trainer?
im not sure on all the info but it does take alot of smarts. im into fitness and was thinking about it but the classes do cost $ so i kinda put it off. i think it was a 6 month class. and yeah you have to get a passing grade. you have to be good with people and be able to motivate them. other then that i dont know. sorry..

How do you now this is the right career you have chosen?

i have been working at a company and was very happy the only thing was that they did not see my abilities until it was to late. i have found a great job in someones elses eyes , but you dont work with people its only on the phone and when you went for the interview they made it sound like it was a job that you will be busy interact with people. and you would just be busy .believe i like to work on something that drives me,

now i am just sitting here wish i had a job were you interact with people and enjoy ur day.

had an offer resently told my boss about it and he was not happy for me. and he made me feel like i have berayed him.where is i am not happy here ,and i think i will never be.

if i could turn back the time i would .How do you now this is the right career you have chosen?
I'm an employment specialist and I always encourage people to think about hobbies and interest that they have and things that they like to do. In fact a little exercise that I have them do is to list on paper on one side the hobbies and interest they have and on the other side list ALL the job skills that they feel they have. Then take a look at the two lists, can you connect any of those together? If so you might want to look into a job that would allow you to do something that you feel you're good at and also enjoy!!! Example: I have a BIG hobby of snow skiing and if I didn't already have and love my current job, I might think about becoming a certified ski instructor. If you have any additional questions or would like some additional input you can e-mail me at skibum0109@yahoo.com. Hope I've helped!!!How do you now this is the right career you have chosen?
Maybe you should look for things to make your job more interesting. Employ your creativity and reform work systems there so that the company runs efficiently, you interact with newer need based clients and get more leisure time to meet your friends. If that really isn't possible, look for other work, but don;t give this up just yet. Quit only when you find a certain deal elsewhere.
This job is better then no job. No job is a real bummer!

If you are truly unhappy, then look elsewhere.
